Job description

Overview

Set projects up for success from day one.

We're partnering with a respected M&E contractor in Warrington to recruit an M&E Pre-Construction Manager. This full-time, permanent role suits someone who enjoys turning briefs into buildable plans, coordinating design and estimating, and producing tenders that stand up on site as well as on paper.

A mechanical bias is preferred with a strong building services background.

About the Company

Our client delivers mechanical and electrical building services across healthcare, education, commercial and light industrial projects.

The culture is practical and supportive. Expectations are clear, feedback is direct, and pre-construction works closely with delivery so information flows and decisions stick.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading pre-construction on a portfolio of M&E projects from enquiry to contract award
  • Coordinating inputs from estimating, design, BIM and operations to produce complete tenders
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications, running buildability checks, and closing out queries early
  • Preparing programmes, prelims, risk registers and method statements that are realistic and usable
  • Driving value engineering that protects performance, quality and maintenance access
  • Managing supplier and subcontractor enquiries and clarifications
  • Shaping bid strategy, authoring technical responses and presenting to clients
  • Planning clean handovers with clear scope, assumptions and deliverables

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong background in M&E contracting within pre-construction, design management or estimating
  • Mechanical bias preferred with sound knowledge of HVAC, plantrooms, distribution and interfaces
  • Comfortable reviewing M&E designs and translating them into clear scope and programme
  • Good grasp of commercial considerations, prelims and typical NEC or JCT requirements
  • Working knowledge of BIM and common data environments such as ACC or SharePoint
  • Confident communicator who can align consultants, suppliers and internal teams
  • Organised, deadline-focused and careful with detail
  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services preferred

Benefits

  • Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 depending on experience
  • Full company benefits package
  • Steady regional pipeline with technically interesting work
  • Collaborative team with quick decisions and solid support
  • Real ownership of the front end so what you plan gets built as intended
