Site Manager - Fire Protection & Mechanical Systems
Location: Midlands / Manchester (with UK-wide travel)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: ONgoing
Hours: 40 per week
Rate: £400 per day (Negotiable) + Travel & MileageProtec Fire & Security is looking for an experienced Site Manager to join their team on a 12-month contract, overseeing major fire protection and mechanical installation projects across the UK.
This role is ideally suited to someone based in the Midlands or Manchester, providing easy access to projects across both the North and South of England. Current projects include Lancaster, Leicester, and the South Coast, so flexibility to travel is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesRequirements
- Manage site operations on large-scale fire protection and mechanical projects.
- Lead and coordinate large site teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
- Work closely with main contractors and project stakeholders.
- Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Read, interpret and mark up technical pipework schematics.
- Oversee installation progress and ensure works meet project specifications.
- Maintain accurate site documentation using Microsoft Office applications.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on behalf of, or alongside, established main contractors.
- Demonstrable experience managing large site teams.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary mechanical systems, with a background in commercial plumbing or sprinkler systems highly desirable.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret and mark up technical pipework drawings and schematics.
- Strong focus on Quality Assurance and Health & Safety.
- Experience working on Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and/or Ministry of Defence (MOD) projects is preferred.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

- Current First Aid certification
- All projects are within secure prison environments.
- Candidates must either hold current BPSS clearance or be eligible to obtain it.
- Travel across the UK is a key part of the role, including regular visits to projects on the South Coast.
- Mileage and travel expenses are paid when using your own vehicle.
