Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Erect scaffolding systems (e.g., tube and fitting, system scaffolds) to support construction, maintenance, or demolition projects.
- Alter and adapt existing scaffolding structures as site requirements change.
- Dismantle scaffolding when no longer required, ensuring safe removal of all components.
- Work from technical drawings and method statements to ensure correct scaffold type, height, load class, and stability.
- Install safety features such as guard rails, toe boards, and debris netting.
- Inspect scaffolding during and after erection to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Report defects or hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act, Working at Height Regulations, and company/site procedures.
- Cooperate with site management, contractors, and other trades.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Strong knowledge of safe scaffolding practices and working procedures.
- Understanding of scaffold types: independent, birdcage, tower, cantilever, etc.
- Good manual handling and physical fitness.
- Ability to read and follow scaffold drawings and instructions.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Awareness of load limits and structural integrity.
- Basic problem-solving when adapting scaffolds to on-site conditions.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- CISRS Scaffolder Card (Blue) or CISRS Trainee Card (if still in training)
- Valid CISRS Part 1 or Part 2 certification
- Working at Heights training (may be separate or part of CISRS course)
- Manual Handling & PPE training (often site-specific)
- Full Tools and Harniss
Typical Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM (may vary)
