About Us:
Since our client's foundation in 2018, they have become a leading name in the Mechanical and Electrical Building Services industry, serving a range of sectors including Defence, Healthcare, Hospitality and Government Agencies. They specialise in plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration and all other aspects of the building services to provide complete mechanical and electrical solutions.
About the role:
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Project Manager within a well-established mechanical and electrical engineering company. We are looking for someone who understands all aspects of mechanical building services to join our fast-growing company with projects throughout the UK and internationally throughout the world.
Key duties:
• Manage multiple projects within the budgeted cost and to the satisfaction of the client
• Plan a project scheduling of work and resources to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget
• Ensure that the quality of the delivered system is maintained
• Control and maintain the necessary project documentation in the job files
• Ensure that the H&S files are in place for your projects and that safe systems of work are put in place, this is to include the implementation of Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, COSHH and Method Statements. The site setup and organisation of all health and safety consumables on site prior to any work being carried out on site
• Liaise with the company HSQE
• Ensure that all specifications and project requirements are met and where necessary adjusted to suit the client's needs.
• Liaison with other internal departments, clients and contractors ensuring that they know what we need from them and what we need to deliver to them, this is to include pre order interviews, these will need to be documented and emailed once they are agreed and signed by both the company and by the sub-contractor. Where this is not viable then a negotiated cost is to be added to a purchase order. This is then, to be sent by email, thereafter, filed in the appropriate file, both on the main server contract file and the office paper file (If applicable).
• Understand the contractual requirements of your projects and maintain a vigilant eye on when the project deviates from its original scope, thus being especially proactive in recovering variation income, byway of the CVI & Variation order processes.
• Deal with all aspects of the financial management of your projects, including invoicing and variations, ensuring that we are not financially exposed and receive payment in a timely fashion
• To have a good understanding of installation techniques of mechanical and electrical elements
• Be able to interpret customer requirements and liaise with the customer in a manner that is respectful of the project requirements and the customer's best interest.
• Be able to accurately estimate the labour and materials costs of systems and apply self-learning to improve estimation for subsequent projects
• Represent the company with the necessary level of professional conduct and presentation
• Maintain project programme plan.
• Be able to provide progress reports for each project, this to include a redline on the programme of the project if this is applicable.
• Manage your time so that you maintain and maximise the hours in your working day.
• Be prepared to travel to site within the UK and overseas, to oversee progress and liaise with the client when required.
Person Specification:
• Must have proven experience as a project manager within the construction industry.
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
• Solid organisational skills include attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Qualification in project management or equivalent.
• Proven experience in people management.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with good conflict management skills.
• Be prepared to travel throughout the UK and overseas when required.
• Security clearance would be an advantage.
• Must have full UK driving license.
