Job description

Mechanical Project Manager £70,000-£85,000

Mechanical Building Services | M&E Construction | Commercial Fit-Out & Refurbishment

The opportunity

An established and reputable M&E building services contractor is seeking two experienced Mechanical Project Managers to join its growing project delivery team in London.

These permanent positions offer the opportunity to take ownership of mechanical building services projects, overseeing delivery from pre-construction and procurement through installation, commissioning and final handover.

Working across commercial construction, office fit-out and refurbishment projects, the successful candidates will play a key role in delivering projects safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

We are looking for commercially aware, technically strong professionals who can lead project teams, manage subcontractors and build effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.

Key responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical building services packages from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

  • Manage HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, plumbing, pipework and associated mechanical systems.

  • Develop and monitor project programmes, procurement schedules, budgets and resource plans.

  • Lead site teams, mechanical supervisors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.

  • Coordinate design development, technical submissions, RFIs and installation drawings.

  • Monitor project costs, variations, valuations and commercial performance.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, quality standards, project specifications and relevant building regulations.

  • Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, defects resolution and final client handover.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, principal contractors and internal stakeholders.

Candidate requirements

The ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within M&E contracting or mechanical building services.

  • Strong experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment or comparable construction projects.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, ventilation and mechanical installation systems.

  • Experience managing project budgets, programmes, procurement and subcontractor performance.

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage project risks and resolve technical challenges.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organisation and client-facing skills.

  • An HNC, HND, degree or equivalent relevant mechanical/building services qualification.

  • SMSTS or a relevant site management safety qualification, where required.

Candidates should have a proven track record of taking ownership of projects and delivering consistently high standards of safety, quality and commercial performance.

Benefits Package

Company vehicle or car allowance

Plus reimbursement of eligible business travel expenses.

Opportunity to earn an annual bonus linked to individual and company performance.

Employer pension contributions and private medical cover.

25 days' annual leave plus UK bank holidays.
