Job description

Are you an Estimator or Junior Estimator working in the Facilities Management or Engineering Maintenance sector, looking to develop into a full Estimator role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a large national service provider to the commercial maintenance industry. Based in the Bristol office, you will work predominantly on Mechanical, Electrical, FM Maintenance, and small works projects, supporting the Business Development function.

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Bid Estimator. You will be responsible for delivering estimating and costing for new tenders within the Facilities Management / Building Services sector, specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, Fabric works, and Hard FM services.

The role offers the opportunity to develop business development skills, including presenting to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and participating in client-facing activities. You will work in a fast-paced environment, costing large-scale tender returns (£250k-£4-5m per annum), supported day-to-day by the Business Development Manager and Senior Estimator.

Key Responsibilities

· Analyse ITT documentation, asset lists, specifications, and site visits to assess works

· Prepare accurate costings for materials, labour, and services, ensuring competitive and compliant tender submissions

· Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value for money

· Interpret customer specifications, ITTs, and asset lists to identify items in/out of scope

· Utilise advanced IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, and internal works management systems

· Participate in regular team meetings to discuss projects and business strategy

· Assist the BDM with wider bid preparation, including sales meetings and quality/narrative components

· Work alongside senior stakeholders including CEO, Operations Director, Finance Director, and Accountants

Candidate Profile

· Experience in estimating or planning within M&E, FM, or maintenance environments

· Excellent attention to detail, particularly with numbers and costs

· Knowledge of regulations and best practice methodologies for Hard Services maintenance (e.g., SFG20)

· Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment

· Keen to develop Business Development skills, including client-facing experience

· Understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices
