Inspire Futures is supporting an opportunity for an experienced Handyperson to join a maintenance team delivering works across Portsmouth City Council housing and commercial properties. This role would suit someone with previous maintenance, engineering, construction or military trade experience who is looking for a permanent opportunity within the property maintenance sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of general repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard while delivering excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance across housing and commercial properties
- Completing minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaking taps and replacing toilet seats
- Undertaking painting, decorating and general improvement works
- Completing basic carpentry, repairs and maintenance tasks where required
- Identifying issues and providing practical solutions
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining accurate records of completed works
- Providing a professional and customer-focused service
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance, construction or trade environment is essential
- Experience carrying out general repairs and property maintenance tasks
- Strong practical skills and ability to work independently
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Reliable, organised and able to manage a varied workload
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Military experience in engineering, facilities, construction or maintenance roles is welcomed
