Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Groundworker. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our civil engineering operations and ensuring that our infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to quality and safety.

Duties

  • Assist with groundwork, precasting concrete, trenching, and site preparation
  • Liaise with Site Manager, Site Supervisor, and clients as needed
  • Supervise work squads and report defects, snags, or health & safety issues
  • Operate site plant equipment (e.g. telehandler, dumper, mini excavator)
  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, permits, and company procedures
  • Interpret drawings and RAMS accurately
  • Maintain company standards in all work performed

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficiency in using standard office software applications
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills or technologies
  • Relevant CSCS card and plant operation tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper, roller)
  • Knowledge of fencing types, electrical fencing, and access control systems
  • Clean driving licence
  • Health & Safety compliance
  • Experience in civil engineering or infrastructure installation

Requirements

  • Valid CSCS card
  • Relevant plant operation tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper, roller, banksman, slinger/signaller, abrasive wheels, face fit)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in civil engineering or infrastructure installation
  • Ability to operate site plant equipment (e.g. telehandler, dumper, mini excavator)
  • Knowledge of fencing types, electrical fencing systems, and access control systems
  • Ability to interpret drawings and RAMS
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Commitment to Health & Safety compliance
  • Willingness to travel along the central belt.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Participation in company training and adherence to policies
  • Ability to pass screening checks (5-year work history, basic disclosure, financial check, drug & alcohol test)
