Job description
Job Title: Electrical Site Manager (Contract)
Reporting To: UK Operations Manager
Purpose: We have an immediate vacancy for a Electrical Site Manager to oversee the close-out of our project at one of our sites in the Ipswich area. Includes snagging/re-work, function testing, commissioning and reliability testing of our installed equipment - mostly electrical based.
(Note that we are a subcontractor on the Rickinghall project and the candidate will fulfil a dual role covering Electrical/Commissioning and acting act as a valued member of our team fulfilling our HSQE requirements and helping to manage our subcontractors.)
Suitability: The role would suit a flexible, enthusiastic and organised individual with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and water industry background.
Location: Based at our project site in Rickinghall, Suffolk (postcode IP22 1LL). Potential for occasional visits to our offices if needed.
Timescale: The post is vacant and is expected to last for 2-4 months. For the right candidate with an appetite for a permanent role, a longer-term position in the business may be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversight of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation installation work by our teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Adherence to required standards, policies and statutory regulations for Health & Safety.
- Developing / revising testing, commissioning and handover plans.
- Organising, planning and attending meetings with client and contractor stakeholders.
- Inspection of systems to ensure they are installed, tested and commissioning to relevant British, ISO and client standards.
- Function testing and commissioning of electrical installations, SCADA systems, instrumentation and automation systems ensuring compliance with the system specifications and best practice.
- Compiling commissioning reports, method statements and commissioning schedules.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant electrical standards and legislation.
- Participating in the troubleshooting of any process performance shortcomings.
- Remaining in regular contact with the Project Manager, project engineers, Client teams and supply chain to enable smooth commissioning and handover processes
- Compiling and review of Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
- Training of site operators in the use of the installed equipment and systems.
- Other duties as may arise from time to time that are consistent with the job-holder's knowledge and skills, and are needed to effectively perform the role
Key Skills & Experience:
- Engineering, science or similar to degree, HND, HNC or equivalent level.
- Minimum four years' postgraduate experience in a similar role within the utilities sector and/or M&E engineering environment.
- Candidates should have extensive experience of industrial / commercial electrical and ICA design, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning, ideally in the water sector.
- Experience in specific Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems - including conditioning, conversion and interpretation plus digital I/O, relay control logic and instrumentation.
- Candidates should be electrically qualified to a minimum of 18th Edition, C&G 2391 Inspection & Test and should ideally hold a current JIB Gold Card.
- Experience of working as an NIC-EIC Competent Person would be an advantage.
- Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with Clients and colleagues.
- Experience within the UK water industry is a distinct advantage.
- Willingness to be based at the work site, with the potential for travel regionally and nationwide (including overnight stays), and to our headquarters in Ireland as required.
- Full driving licence, any existing endorsements must be declared in the application.
