Job description
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Approved Electrician to support delivery of electrical works on water and wastewater treatment projects aligned with the AMP8 capital investment programme. The role involves installation, testing, inspection, and commissioning of LV electrical systems across multiple clean and wastewater infrastructure sites.
This is a key position contributing to the successful delivery of projects that support resilient, sustainable, and digitally enabled water infrastructure, in line with AMP8 regulatory priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute electrical installations in accordance with BS7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations), NICEIC standards, and project-specific specifications.
- Carry out inspection and testing, fault-finding, and commissioning activities.
- Work on LV systems, including panels, pumps, actuators, telemetry, MCCs, and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure delivery of energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, with particular focus on water industry standards (e.g. WIMES).
- Provide support for digitalisation and remote monitoring systems, contributing to smarter asset management strategies.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of documentation including electrical installation certificates, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- JIB Approved Electrician status (Gold Card).
- EUSR card preferred
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- ECS card (Gold).
- C&G 2391 / 2394 & 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection).
- Experience in the UK water sector, ideally under AMP6, AMP7, or AMP8 frameworks.
- Experience with WIMES-compliant installations.
Desirable Skills & Competencies:
- Understanding of AMP8 objectives including sustainability, resilience, and net zero carbon.
- Experience working on Design & Build water infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, telemetry, and digital integration technologies.
- Experience with modular build, off-site construction, or DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly).
- Ability to read and work with P&IDs and electrical schematics.
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
