Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Approved Electrician to lead and carry out the full electrical installation on a large-scale commercial project. This includes first and second fix installations, containment, distribution systems, lighting, fire alarms, and data cabling. The successful candidate must be confident working independently or as part of a team, ensuring all work is completed to high safety and quality standards, in line with current electrical regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out full electrical installations from start to finish on a large commercial site.
  • Install and terminate cable containment systems, such as tray, trunking, conduit and basket.
  • Install and test power distribution systems, including mains boards, submains, and final circuits.
  • Complete first and second fix of lighting, sockets, switches, and control systems.
  • Install and commission emergency lighting, fire alarms, and data/communications systems.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with BS7671 Wiring Regulations, building codes, and site-specific standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and layout plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including test certificates and daily site records.
  • Liaise with site managers, other trades, and clients to ensure timely delivery of the project.
  • Supervise electrical mates or apprentices as needed.
  • Adhere to all site health & safety protocols and company policies.

Requirements: Essential:

  • Approved Electrician status (JIB Gold Card)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • Proven experience working on large commercial installations
  • Strong knowledge of containment, distribution, and fire safety systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence (if travel between sites is required)

Desirable:

  • IPAF/ PASMA
  • Experience working in live commercial environments or phased installation.

Working Hours:

  • 8am - 4.30pm (possible for overtime as the project starts)
  • 8 months length of project
