Job description
Project Overview:
- Site: New build care home
- Scope: Full electrical installation for residential care facility
- Duration: Ongoing work
- Working hours: Standard site hours 07:30-16:30
Key Responsibilities:
Installation Work:
- First and second fix electrical installations
- Wiring for lighting, power, and emergency circuits
- Installation of distribution boards and containment (trunking, conduit, traywork)
- Data, telecoms, fire alarm, nurse call and security systems
- Connecting and testing final circuits
- Earthing and bonding
Compliance and Safety:
- Work in accordance with the BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and site rules
- Adhere to RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)
Coordination:
- Liaise with site management, other trades, and electrical supervisors
- Work from drawings, schematics, and technical documents
- Supervise apprentices or electricians' mates where applicable
Commissioning:
- Assist in final commissioning of systems before handover
- Rectify any snags or defects identified during the sign-off process
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- JIB ECS Gold Card (Approved Electrician status)
- Experience in new build or commercial/residential projects
- Experience with care home-specific systems is a plus (e.g. nurse call, emergency lighting)
Required Tools and PPE:
- Own set of hand and power tools
- Appropriate PPE (boots, hard hat, hi-vis, gloves, safety glasses)
- Multimeter and testing equipment (calibrated)
