Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to carry out electrical testing, inspection, and remedial works across our social housing properties. The role involves completing EICRs, identifying non-compliances, and carrying out remedial repairs to ensure properties meet current electrical safety standards and regulations.
You will be working in occupied and void properties, liaising professionally with tenants and housing staff, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities Testing & Inspection
- Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition).
- Complete periodic testing of fixed wiring, consumer units, RCDs, lighting, socket circuits, and protective devices.
- Accurately classify observations (C1, C2, C3, FI) and record findings.
Remedial Works
- Carry out remedial electrical works identified during testing to achieve compliance.
- Fault-finding and repairs including:
- Earthing and bonding upgrades
- Consumer unit replacements
- Circuit repairs and alterations
- Replacement of defective accessories and components
- Ensure all remedial works are tested, certified, and recorded.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all certification and reports accurately and on time.
- Use handheld devices or systems to submit reports where required.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures.
Customer & Site Management
- Communicate professionally with tenants and housing officers.
- Maintain a tidy, safe working environment at all times.
- Manage workload efficiently to meet daily and weekly targets.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391 / 2394 / 2395 or equivalent).
- Proven experience carrying out EICRs and remedial works in domestic properties.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within social housing.
- Experience using electronic job management systems.
- AM2 qualification.
- Asbestos awareness and DBS (or willingness to obtain).
