Job description
Job Title: Pipefitter Improver
Location: Irvine, United Kingdom
Job Purpose:To support qualified Pipefitters in the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems in industrial or construction environments. The Pipefitter Improver will assist in ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality, while developing their skills toward becoming a fully qualified Pipefitter.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced Pipefitters with the installation and maintenance of piping systems, including measuring, cutting, threading, and assembling pipes.
- Work with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and plastic.
- Prepare and stage tools, equipment, and materials at work areas.
- Carry out basic mechanical tasks such as tightening bolts, securing pipe supports, and cleaning fittings.
- Read and interpret basic piping drawings and isometric diagrams under guidance.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and report any faults.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Follow instructions and safety guidelines from supervisors and senior tradespeople.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to advance technical skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Some prior experience or apprenticeship in mechanical or industrial trades, preferably pipefitting.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments including confined spaces, at height, and outdoors.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport (or willingness to obtain).
- NVQ Level 2 or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Pipefitting
- Familiarity with industrial construction or maintenance environments.
