About the Company
Our client is an established precision engineering and fabrication specialist, delivering high-quality mechanical services, ductwork, and bespoke metalwork to clients in aerospace, automotive, marine, medical, food processing, and defence sectors. With a growing number of high-security, defence-related contracts, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple mechanical and fabrication projects.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate tenders, quotations, and contract variations.
- Review contract terms and conditions, advising on risk and opportunity.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and cash flow, ensuring profitability targets are met.
- Measure and value works on-site, producing accurate valuations and final accounts.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to provide commercial guidance.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance monitoring.
- Produce regular financial and commercial reports for senior management.
- Assist with contract negotiations, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Maintain strict compliance with all company and client security protocols.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within mechanical services, ductwork, or construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and fabrication projects, contract management, and financial reporting.
- Excellent negotiation, financial control, and commercial management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional client-facing approach.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and commercial management software.
- Full UK driving licence.
Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the nature of several secured contracts, the successful applicant must be eligible to obtain MoD Security Clearance (SC). Applicants should be UK nationals and have a verifiable 5-year employment and address history. Any existing clearance would be highly advantageous.
Desirable Qualifications
- HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management.
- CSCS card.
- First Aid at Work certificate (advantageous).
