London | Full Time | Monday - Friday | £35,000 - £38,000 per year + Company Van and Fuel Card

Our client is a well-established and growing residential property management company operating across London. They are looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Maintenance Person / Handyman to join their in-house maintenance team.

This is a permanent employed position suited to someone with approximately 2+ years' experience in residential property maintenance who is confident working independently, managing their daily jobs and providing a professional service to tenants.

Are you the right person for the job?

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in residential property maintenance or a similar handyman / multi-trade role.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good general property maintenance and repair skills.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge and ability to carry out minor plumbing repairs.
  • Basic electrical knowledge for minor maintenance tasks.
  • Painting and decorating experience.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common domestic appliance faults.
  • Experience changing locks, handles, fittings and carrying out small installations.
  • Ability to assemble and repair furniture.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify when a specialist contractor is required.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with tenants.
  • Ability to organise your workload and work independently.
  • Own basic hand tools required.
  • Specialist equipment, larger tools and materials required for specific jobs will be provided by the company where appropriate.

What will your role look like?

You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance across our client's residential property portfolio in London, including:

  • Carrying out routine repairs and general maintenance.
  • Attending and resolving maintenance issues reported by tenants.
  • Troubleshooting problems and identifying appropriate solutions.
  • Minor plumbing repairs.
  • Minor electrical maintenance.
  • Painting and decorating.
  • Basic carpentry and making good.
  • Replacing locks, handles, light fittings and other fixtures.
  • Installing shelves, curtain poles and other small fittings.
  • Checking and troubleshooting domestic appliances.
  • Furniture assembly and minor furniture repairs.
  • Silicone, sealing and finishing works.
  • Small installations and general property repairs.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
  • Helping prepare properties and rooms between tenancies.
  • Identifying and reporting larger repairs that require specialist contractors.
  • Liaising with external tradespeople and contractors when required.
  • Collecting and delivering materials, keys or other items between properties.
  • Responding to occasional urgent maintenance issues where required.
  • Keeping the company informed of completed works and any follow-up action required.

What does our client provide?

To make the role easier and allow you to work efficiently across their London portfolio, they provide:

  • Small company van.
  • Company fuel card.
  • Company-paid vehicle insurance.
  • Road tax, MOT, servicing and maintenance of the van.
  • Business parking costs where authorised and required for work.
  • Congestion Charge / ULEZ costs where applicable to authorised business journeys.
  • Materials required to complete maintenance jobs.
  • Specialist or larger equipment where required.
  • The company van can be taken home and used for commuting and business purposes, meaning you do not need to provide your own vehicle.
  • The van is provided as a working vehicle and is not for general private or leisure use.

What can you expect in return:

  • £35,000 - £38,000 salary, depending on experience and skills.
  • Full-time permanent employment.
  • Monday - Friday working schedule.
  • Company van that can be taken home.
  • Fuel card.
  • No personal vehicle or business fuel costs.
  • 20 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Additional loyalty days based on length of service.
  • Discretionary Christmas shutdown.
  • Company pension.
  • Company events.
  • Employee recognition scheme.
  • Retail discounts.
  • Opportunity to develop your skills within a growing residential property business.

Our client is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is reliable and practical, and enjoys finding solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

If you are an experienced Handyman or Maintenance Operative looking for a stable, long-term position with a company vehicle and a varied workload across London, they would be happy to hear from you.
