Job description
We are currently seeking a Junior Draughtsman to join a growing architectural metalwork team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in steel detailing who is looking to further develop their career within a well-established fabrication environment.
Location: Essex (Office Based)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Hours: 8:00 - 16:00
Software: Advanced Steel
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using Advanced Steel
- Prepare fabrication drawings for architectural metalwork packages
- Create general arrangements, detailed sections, and connection details
- Develop drawings for staircases, balustrades, handrails, balconies, and bespoke metalwork
- Liaise with design teams, project managers, and workshop staff to ensure buildability
- Revise drawings in line with client comments and engineer approvals
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant building regulations and project specifications
- Assist with material take-offs and coordination of information for production
- Support site teams with technical drawing queries when required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in steel detailing or architectural metalwork
- Proficient in Advanced Steel
- Understanding of fabrication processes and installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
