Overview
We are currently seeking an Electrical Small Works Manager in Manchester to take full cradle-to-grave ownership of small works projects typically ranging from £10k - £100k.
This is a client-facing role for someone who enjoys managing multiple jobs at once, keeping delivery standards high, and building strong working relationships.
About the Company
Our client is a growing North-West building services and maintenance contractor delivering mechanical and electrical engineering works alongside technically focused facilities management.
They operate across private, public and commercial environments, supporting clients with end-to-end project delivery as well as ongoing maintenance to keep critical building systems safe, compliant and operational.
Their engineering capability includes in-house design support and installation delivery, with projects managed from early design through to completion and defects.
With a strong order book and an expanding portfolio, they continue to win diverse work and invest in their operational team to maintain consistent standards around safety, quality and client service.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing electrical small works from enquiry and survey through to delivery, completion and sign-off (typically £10k - £100k)
- Carrying out site visits and surveys for estimating, collating information and producing estimates (with support where required)
- Working alongside commercial on procurement, costs, contracts and insurance considerations
- Acting as a client-facing lead, attending site meetings and representing the business professionally
- Developing and managing client relationships, new and existing, in a proactive way
- Managing welfare, health & safety, quality, environmental standards and ensuring compliance on your sites
- Creating, reviewing and approving HSQE documentation in line with company procedures
- Auditing works undertaken by operatives and subcontractors for HSQE and financial compliance
- Signing off minor works certificates on a routine basis
- Supporting weekly scheduling, approving timesheets and assisting with invoicing queries
- Managing technical enquiries from clients and supporting issue resolution on live jobs
- Recruiting, supervising and developing direct labour and subcontractors, including inductions and training needs
- Reviewing supplier/subcontractor performance and reporting where required
- Ensuring site presentation, signage, vehicles, plant and equipment standards are maintained
Skills & Experience Required
- NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor experience / capability
- Proven experience managing electrical small works / minor projects in a building services environment
- Strong client-facing communication and the ability to manage multiple jobs concurrently
- Good understanding of programme, sequencing, cost control and operational discipline
- Strong working knowledge of HSQE requirements and site compliance expectations
- Comfortable producing estimates from surveys and liaising with supply chain for quotations
- Ability to lead, supervise and develop operatives and subcontractors
- Full UK driving licence
