Job description

The Opportunity

If you're an experienced Electrical Project Manager who takes ownership seriously, this is a role worth looking at.

Our client is a well-established electrical contractor with over 65 years in the industry and a strong portfolio of projects across healthcare, education, industrial, commercial and leisure sectors throughout the North-West. They're NICEIC approved, ECA members and hold Constructionline Gold accreditation. Their reputation is built on doing the job properly and on long-term client relationships that reflect that.

This is a permanent role based from their Blackburn office, managing electrical projects from mobilisation through to handover. You'll work closely with a capable team in a business that backs its project managers with clear processes, sensible decision-making and the support to deliver well.

About the Business

With a trading history dating back to 1958, this is a contractor with real depth. Their project portfolio spans healthcare facilities, educational institutions, commercial developments, industrial sites and high-profile leisure venues. They hold NICEIC and CompEx certification alongside ECA membership, and their work is consistently delivered to a high standard across complex, technically demanding environments.

The culture is practical and delivery-focused. They value people who take ownership, communicate clearly and care about the quality of their work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing electrical projects from award through to final account, with full ownership of programme, quality and cost
  • Leading and coordinating site teams, directly employed labour and subcontractors
  • Acting as the primary client contact throughout delivery, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication
  • Producing and managing project programmes, ensuring milestones are met and issues are resolved early
  • Overseeing procurement, materials management and subcontract administration
  • Managing change, tracking variations and maintaining accurate commercial records
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards throughout every project
  • Producing progress reports, attending site meetings and representing the business professionally at client and consultant level
  • Supporting handover, commissioning and close-out, including O&M documentation and defects management

What We're Looking For

  • A background in electrical contracting, with demonstrable experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Confident running multiple projects concurrently across varied sectors
  • Strong commercial awareness: programme management, variations, cost control and reporting
  • A clear communicator who can manage client relationships, subcontractors and site teams with equal confidence
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition or equivalent)
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualified
  • Full UK driving licence

What's on Offer

  • £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
  • Full company benefits package
  • Stable, varied workload across technically interesting sectors
  • Supportive team environment with clear processes and practical management
  • A business with a genuine track record and the pipeline to back it up
