Job description
Role Overview
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations on clean water and wastewater construction projects, including pipeline works, pumping stations, and treatment plant upgrades. The role ensures that work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards of the project and water authority.
Key Responsibilities Site Management & Execution
- Lead and coordinate daily site construction activities.
- Manage installation of pipelines, sewers, rising mains, mechanical equipment, and treatment plant structures.
- Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Manage subcontractors, labour, and suppliers effectively.
- Conduct daily briefings and supervise work teams.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce safety standards, RAMS, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and toolbox talks.
- Ensure safe working practices around confined spaces, excavations, and live utilities.
- Implement environmental controls to protect watercourses and surrounding areas.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Oversee site testing and inspections:
- Pressure tests
- Leak tests
- Hydrostatic tests
- MEICA installation checks
- Maintain QA documentation, reports, and site records.
- Ensure compliance with water authority and regulatory specifications.
Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with clients, consultants, water authorities, and local stakeholders.
- Participate in progress meetings and provide accurate reporting.
- Coordinate with design and project management teams for technical resolutions.
Programme & Cost Control
- Monitor site progress against the programme and adjust site activities as needed.
- Assist with cost tracking, resource management, and variation identification.
- Ensure materials and equipment are procured and delivered on time.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater systems (pipelines, pumping stations, treatment processes).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Competent in managing subcontractors and multiple work fronts.
- Proficient with MS Office; scheduling tools (MS Project/Primavera) desirable.
- Solid understanding of HSE regulations and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Worked on projects with Civils and MEICA interfaces - Or has a good understanding of these.
- Currently working in the industry
- Proven experience (5+ years) managing water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Certifications such as SMSTS (UK), OSHA/NEBOSH, or local equivalents.
- Confined space training.
- First aid certification.

Additional Information
